Mgr. Tomáš Foltýn
Tomas Foltyn graduated from the University of Pardubice, the Faculty of Arts and Philosophy in 2008. He received his master’s degree in cultural history. In 2007, he started to work for the National Library of the Czech Republic in the Digitization Department, first as the Project Manager, then as the Head of the Metadata Creation and Management Department. From February 2012, he headed the Department of Strategic Planning of Library Collections Digitization. In January 2013, he became the Collections’ Management Division Director. On May 1, 2021, he was appointed the General Director of the National Library of the Czech Republic.
Tomas Foltyn is involved in various national and international research projects, he is an expert guarantor of the VISK 7 Grant Program, the regular member of the Central Library Council of the Czech Republic, the regular board member of the IFLA Digital Humanities/Digital Scholarship Special Interest Group, and the member of the CASLIN International Conference Program Committee. In his professional career, he is engaged in collections’ management and long-term preservation of modern library documents including the digital content. He is also deeply involved in digital humanities.
