PhDr. Lukáš Babka

Director of the Slavonic Library

Lukáš Babka graduated from the Charles University in Prague, the Faculty of Arts, in history and politology. He studied at the Seminar on East European Countries History and the History of the 20th Century, the Faculty of Arts, Charles University. Since 2001, he has worked for the National Library of the Czech Republic – the Slavonic Library. At the same time, between 2002 and 2004, he worked as a documentarist in the Office for Documentation and Investigation of the Crimes of Communism, Police of the Czech Republic. Since 2004, he has been the Director of the Slavonic Library, an independent division of the National Library of the CR. As part of his professional focus, he deals with selected issues of East European studies of the 20th century, the topics of Russian, Ukrainian and Belarusian interwar emigration and the history of the Slavonic Library. He has been coordinating the participation of the Slavonic Library in Czech and intenational publishing, cultural, research and digitization projects, as well as the cooperation with Czech and foreign libraries, scientific institutes and specialized organizations focused similarly on Slavic Studies.
